Dreamscapes History

Starting as a temporary art experience at ILLUMINATE: Light Art and Technology Festival in 2017, we’ve since expanded to occupy an impressive 35,000 square feet of exhibition space at The Shops at South Town in Sandy, Utah. This journey is a testament to the unwavering support we’ve enjoyed from our earliest showcase at the Gateway.

Dreamscapes had its humble beginnings as a small immersive experience during the Illuminate Festival in 2017. Thanks to the enthusiastic reception from the audience, the Utah Arts Alliance assembled a team to develop a full-scale version, which debuted in Spring 2018. Rooted in three core values, Dreamscapes aimed to repurpose materials destined for the landfill, offer a one-of-a-kind experience new to Utah, and ensure accessibility for all individuals. Initially planned as a temporary “pop-up” for three months, Dreamscapes’ popularity quickly established it as a beloved artistic cornerstone in Utah.

In Fall 2020, Dreamscapes bid farewell to its original location and transitioned across the street to its new home, unveiled in February 2021. This relocation offered the Dreamscapes team an opportunity to revitalize and reimagine the experience. With refreshed installations, a complete projection room, and an enticing entrance boutique, Dreamscapes was reintroduced to an eager audience. But unfortunately would close its doors in November of that same year.

Dreamscapes is a project of Utah Arts Alliance, a Utah nonprofit with a mission to foster the arts in all forms in order to create an aware, empowered, and connected community.
