You are formally invited to this year’s 2020 UAA Gala! This year’s Gala will be socially distanced on a virtual live-stream at the Urban Arts Gallery for your convenience and safety.

This year’s Gala will guide us through highlight videos of UAA’s diverse arts programs. During this time, you’ll be invited to show your support by donating to the organization, which brings art and entertainment to our entire community. Please note, for each $25  you pledge, you will be given an opportunity to receive a wonderful incentive prize.

Also a highlight of the program will be the presentation of the “Philanthropist of the Year” Awards.

We’re proud to invite you to this event and look forward to seeing you there!

2020 GALA ANNOUNCEMENT!! For every $25 contribution you make during the Gala Live Stream event on October 3rd at 6pm, you get one drawing ticket with your name on it, so donate $100 and get 4 drawing tickets, donate $2000 and get 80 tickets. Two lucky winners will get a gift package from the beautiful Casa Blanca Hotel in Mesquite, Nevada. Each package consists of a free night stay and either a round of golf or a 50 minute Swedish Massage. Mesquite has many fantastic breath taking golf courses that golfers truly enjoy. Another great feature is the fabulous Casa Blanca swimming pool, complete with a water falls and slide. You will have until September 30, 2021 to utilize your prize. The Utah Arts Alliance will get the prizes to the winners.

“Loud!” is a collection of artwork created by local artists of color. Guest curated by Essie Shaw and Rino, this exhibit will hang October 6th through November 1st, with a gallery stroll reception on October 16th from 6-9pm.

Featured artists include Alli Arocho, Pedro Hueramo Rico, Alyana Desouza, Henry Kemp VII, IZ (Isabella Morillo), Emilio Martinez, Melissa Kamba, Xolani G. Radebe, Uwana Eshiet, Alicia Cicalese, Ashley Odiilia, Alethia Lunares, Will Knight, Luis Novoa, Jessica Villeneuve, Quinci Hambrick (Indigo Sketches), Megan Estrada, Andrea Hardeman, and Amelec Diaz.
Admission is free and open to the public.

Art & Craft Market at the Gateway

Join us for a weekly market at The Gateway, Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm. Shop local from a variety of local artists in this open-air street market. The Market will be open through October 17.

Hunt The Salt Lake Beast!

Decode the City, Uncover the Truth, Hunt a Cryptid in this socially distant Halloween Adventure
A mysterious Beast has been stalking and killing in the Salt Lake Valley for generations. 5 generations of cryptid hunters have gathered information, and now it’s up to you to find the lair of the Beast. Follow the clues, solve the mystery, and decode the city. or on EventbriteThe first people to return to the Urban Arts Gallery with completed files, including the Beast’s true name and the location of its lair will receive a prize of $100 along with an original art piece.
The Book of the Beast is now on display at the Urban Arts Gallery. This artifact contains stories and information to help you on your journey. On the first of October, the sealed files will be available and the hunt will begin.

Connect is a free, regular pop-up art exhibit that invites all visual artists to showcase up to two pieces of their art. Connect provides the necessary tools for establishing a career in the arts gained through lectures, workshops, and activities. Attendees participate by voting for their favorite pieces, which helps prepare and educate the artists.

Connect is perfect for emerging artists and art lovers. The program was established in 2010 by Utah Arts Alliance in Salt Lake City, UT. Learn more here.

Call for entries: ILLUMINATE Virtual STEAM Lab Events

We are accepting submissions for projects to be included in ILLUMINATE as part of our virtual STEAM Lab. Small, socially-distanced in person workshops will be included if the public health order permits. Selected projects must fit the theme of light art or creative technology and can be targeted to any age group.

For selected projects, ILLUMINATE will aggregate a calendar of STEAM Lab activities to promote through our marketing strategy that includes website, social media, print, television, radio and billboards. We can also offer space in one of our facilities to host your workshop or virtual event. Please contact us to discuss that option.

Events can be free or ticketed. Ticketed events will be managed through our online ticketing system. ILLUMINATE will cut your organization a check post event, based on our profit sharing model.

Because KUAA doesn’t have commercials, we rely on individuals and businesses in our community to underwrite and sponsor the station, to help keep us on the air and growing!

What is underwriting? 
KUAA 99.9 FM is a non-commercial community radio station supported by contributions and not advertising. When you make a business contribution, your support is acknowledged via on-air messages.
