Mirror Ball

Reflections and Dreams.

The largest mirror ball in the U.S. is the creation of Artist Derek Dyer in association with the Utah Arts Alliance. The piece is over 20 feet in diameter, more than 60 feet in circumference, and it has more than a thousand mirrors.

The significant thing about a mirror is reflection… and every reflection is altered by our perspective. The Mirror Ball reflects a thousand different perspectives or points of veiw and is a reminder that as a community, interdependent and interwoven, we all are reflections of each other.

EVE_web-11The same can be said of our lives. As you think about what has made you the person you are today, consider the effect or reflection other people have had on you. Everyone from your parents and friends, to authors of books you have read, people in the movies you have watched, singers of your favorite songs, even your elementary school bully has in some way shaped you.

We are all reflections of each other and we effect and change those around us. What are you reflecting? What kind of world do you dream of? You can help create that world by being a reflection of that world.

Gandhi famously said “be the change you wish to see in the world”.

So under that same ideal we challenge you to be the reflection of the world you want to create.

As the ball is being raised in the air during the count down to New Years, we encourage you to make a wish and dream of the future that you want to create, then start the New Year by reflecting your dreams.
