Friday, October 19: Our October exhibit celebrates the spooky spirit of the season, with a diverse collection of dark art created by local Utah artists. The walls of Urban Art Gallery will be covered with fan art from our favorite horror and science fiction franchises, as well as original creations from the twisted minds of community artists.

Connect is the free event where every artist can show their work! It’s easy! Bring up to two pieces of ready-to-hang work. Bring your own easels! Vote for your favorite 3 pieces. Top 5 selected artists showcase their work in the gallery until our next event. All top selected are entered to win a portion of $4,000 at the end of the year. (View event schedule below)

Volunteering with ILLUMINATE: Light Art and Technology Festival

ILLUMINATE is seeking individuals and groups from the art and technology sectors to create and/or display installations using light as their medium. Think BIG! (Projection Art, 3D Sculptures, Glowing Performance Art, Augmented Reality). ILLUMINATE’s headquarters are at the Gateway, the surrounding architecture is the canvas.

Capoeira

Capoeira is an Afro-brazilian martial art which includes elements of physical and mental strength, beauty, and power. Mestre Jamaika often refers to capoeira as a “complete martial art” in that it encompasses a vast spectrum of movement and culture; it incorporates kicks, ground movements, self-defense, acrobatics, music, and tradition.
