Dreamscapes

110 S Rio Grande St., Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City’s Immersive Art Experience

Ticketed experience – Come in costume for $5 off admission.

Now a permanent attraction, Dreamscapes was born at ILLUMINATE in 2018 as an experiment in immersive art and collaboration of 100 local artists and builders. During the festival, more than 8000 guests toured the space. The enthusiastic response to the debut encouraged our team at the Utah Arts Alliance and our hosts at the Gateway to take this project to the next level. We are now open four days a week, year round, at the Gateway. Dreamscapes continues to evolve, inspire and highlight the creative culture in Utah.

Please note, winter hours are in effect!

Within and Without

A collection of abstract and figurative work

Our December exhibit “Within and Without” is a dynamic combination of abstract work and figurative work, exploring and celebrating the human experience from a multitude of angles. Local abstract artists use color, texture, and composition to express ineffable inner states, while figurative artists portray the outer human form with a broad spectrum of techniques, ranging from realism to expressionism. The result is a refreshingly diverse mix of approaches and styles, with something to offer for art lovers of all kinds.

Featured artists include: Alicia Cicalese, Bailey Hatcher, Bea Hurd, Chris Kirkham, Christina Levi, Debbie Joplin, Emma Goldgar, Garrett Phillips, Hank Mattson, Heather Olsen, Ivan Ramos, Jeovanni Xoumphonphackdy, Jill Bauer, Julie Fesko-Penman, Justin Grant, Lloyd Knowles, Maryann Paradise, Meg Warnock, Merissa Hansen, Michael Lawlor, Nathan Mulford, Sara Luna, Sofia Chimaras, Steve Rasmussen, Thomas Burdett, Tony Di Donato, Travis Braun, William Ramirez, and Zac Campbell.

The show will hang December 3rd through January 5th, with a gallery stroll reception on December 6th from 6-9pm. Admission is free and open to the public.

Gallery Stroll

Just to confuse you for the holidays, Gallery Stroll will be on the 1st Friday of December instead of the 3rd Friday, like you are used to. Come see the new show, Within and Without (see above) and meet the artists on Friday, December 6th from 6-9.

Writers Rebel SLC on December 10

$5 suggested donation to support performers & Extinction Rebellion; no one turned away. The performance will start promptly at 6pm to accommodate all of our readers.

Inspired by London’s Writers Rebel reading in support of Extinction Rebellion Salt Lake (XRSLC), in partnership with The Wanting to Die Poetry Club, is hosting a unique literary event to demand radical action on the accelerating climate and ecological crisis in support of Extinction Rebellion. In the spirit of a people’s movement, writers will each read for no more than 10 minutes to support the rebellion.

There will be a table for performers to sell their work, as well as the opportunity to be part of a zine published by the Poetry Club. All proceeds from sales and suggested donations will be split between XRSLC and performers who self-identify as needing the funds.

The Urban Arts Gallery is accepting artist submissions now through December 14th! We are scheduling exhibitions starting February 2020 through January 2021.

The gallery welcomes submissions from emerging & established artists in all mediums that would like to be considered for exhibition and/or selling items in our boutique.

Urban Arts Gallery focuses on showcasing contemporary works in the spectrum of street art, pop culture works, and fine art.  We encourage the appreciation of city life and cultural diversity as well as aiming to highlight the talent that exists in SLC and artists that have Utah ties.

Keeping in mind the large amount of exhibit space available, Individual artists will be paired with others to make group shows.

Lastly, be aware that submitting does NOT guarantee acceptance. This call will be open until December 14th at midnight. Late submissions will not be accepted. SHOW US YOUR ART HERE!

Connect

Connect is a free, monthly pop-up art exhibit that invites all visual artists to showcase their art (up to two pieces). Helpful connections and friendships are made as artists learn skills necessary for art careers, gained through lectures, workshops, and activities. Attendees complete the evening by voting for their favorite art, an experience which helps prepare and educate the participating artists.

KUAA Radio  Underwriting

At the Arts Hub 663 west 100 South, Salt Lake City

UAA 99.9 FM, Salt Lake City’s newest independent, listener supported community radio station, broadcasting programming that is innovative, human-driven and free from commercial influence. Because KUAA doesn’t have commercials, we rely on individuals and businesses in our community to underwrite and sponsor the station, to help keep us on the air and growing!

What is underwriting?
KUAA 99.9 FM is a non-commercial community radio station supported by contributions and not advertising. When you make a business contribution, your support is acknowledged via on-air messages. This is called underwriting. Underwriting and sponsorship are a great way for you to help support the station, let listeners know about your business or upcoming events and its tax deductible!

Why underwrite with KUAA 99.9 FM?
Underwriting is a critical piece of KUAA’s funding. Your underwriting support shows you have an interest in the community in which you do business and want to participate in it. KUAA listeners care about their communities and want to support local businesses. Underwriting messages on KUAA are a great way to keep your business on their mind when they are looking for products or services you offer. Listeners will want to support you because they know you share many of the values, they hold dear.

Craft Like Mad

On December 14, the Disabled Rights Action Committee will be hosting an event at the Arts Hub customizing Medical and Adaptive Devices (wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, grabbers, etc) to show that folks with disabilities can be seen as beautiful, strong, unique, and fashionable. All too often, medical and assistive devices are made with attention to function without any thought given to form. We want to change that!

Please join us for an afternoon of snacks (provided by Laziz) and crafting mayhem! Bring your own medical equipment and use OUR supplies and artistic experts to help customize, decorate, or create functional works of accessible art.
